Harnessing AI at the Consero Energy G.C. Forum
At the Consero Energy General Counsel Forum in Irving, TX, I had the chance to meet with some of the brightest legal minds in the energy sector. The event was packed with real, on-the-ground discussions about the challenges we’re all facing and the innovative solutions reshaping how we work.
I also had the pleasure of co-leading a session with Michael Price, Strategic Sales Director at Evisort, titled “Harnessing AI in Energy Contracts: Navigating Complexities & Ensuring Compliance,” where we shared how AI is helping legal teams streamline contract management and stay ahead of regulatory demands.
Here are some of the standout moments from our session and the event as a whole.
Addressing Industry-Specific Challenges
Energy sector legal teams deal with challenges that are unique to their industry. Our session, and the forum overall, gave us a platform to dig into those issues. One topic that kept coming up, even in side conversations, was the resurgence of nuclear energy. It wasn’t on the official agenda, but the buzz around it spoke volumes about where the industry is headed.
Another key point of discussion was the complexity of navigating regulations and the critical role that legal intelligence plays in this area. There’s a growing recognition that AI isn’t just a tool—it’s becoming essential for handling the volume and complexity of contracts in the energy space.

Real-World Contracting Challenges
During our session, we shared a case study about a nuclear company in the pre-construction phase of a project. The case highlighted how contract management lays the groundwork for everything that follows.
It’s not just about paperwork; it’s about ensuring the right agreements are in place to support massive infrastructure projects. AI is stepping in to streamline this process, making what used to be a time-consuming task far more efficient.
One of the interesting takeaways was how various teams—from legal to construction—interact with contract data differently. The need for tools that make this information accessible to everyone involved is clear, and that’s where AI can really shine.
AI in Legal Operations: Moving Forward
Beyond the technical discussions, there was real excitement around AI’s role in the future of legal operations. We’re not just talking about it anymore—companies are actively embracing AI to drive efficiency and manage compliance more effectively. It’s a shift that’s happening now, not in the distant future.
Document Intelligence in Action
We wrapped up our session with a live demo of Evisort’s contract intelligence capabilities. Attendees saw firsthand how our AI can quickly extract key compliance information from complex documents, including healthcare certifications, with incredible accuracy. For industries like energy, where regulations are tight and document volume is massive, this kind of speed and precision is a game-changer.
As I explained during the session, “In the eyes of regulators, you’re responsible for knowing everything about the documents tied to your projects. "AI helps you achieve deep understanding at scale".
Looking Ahead
The first-ever Consero Energy General Counsel Forum really set the bar, bringing together the best and brightest from across the industry. From the challenges of regulatory compliance to the transformative power of AI, it’s clear that energy companies are ready to lead the way in legal innovation.
Events like this one are critical for driving that momentum forward, creating space for new ideas, and fostering the connections that help push the industry toward smarter, more efficient solutions.
